SLK Forex Journal

This shows how many mini-lots I would trade each attempt, and what is the take profit to set. It shows how many tries I would have before I blow my account.

If I am disciplined enough to stick to my plan, my account should grow like this:

::A gentleman asked me for clarifications of the tables here, so I thought I'd put up the whole conversation here for anyone else who wonders. Thanks to the gentleman in Singapore.

him: now that u mention MM, i am looking at your webpage MM section
him: one thing i don't quite understand:
him: in the first table, why do TP change?
him: i thought TP is always fixed at 50 pips?
him: and only lot sizes change?
me: because..if lets say by 3rd try, or 5th try, or 10 try, that means the market is very choppy and is consolidating for something big to happen
me: it's like a rubberband being stretched tight
me: when it is released its going to fly far correct?
me: so, each time the setup fails, it is making the support/resistance, or the channel an even stronger one, because it keeps holding on
me: so when it breaks, it will move far, thats the logic i go by
me: so at a time when ive failed 6 times let's say, i am expecting the price to burst, up or down, and move alot more than 50.
me: many times when i do take my 50 the price actually move 100 or 150 pips
me: it's just that im not greedy, i stick to 50
me: so why i increases is that i want to keep the lot size as low as possible..coz my account balance is not that big enough
him: i c what u mean. so it's not a case of "fix TP at +50 pips" even at 2nd, 3rd, 4th... tries
me: it's 50 pips the first try
him: but, how is the series of 50, 40, 63, 59, 63, 70, ... arrive at?
me: i lose 25, then its 25+50 = 75
me: therefore 2nd trade is 2 minilots x 40 = 80 (this is just because i can't trade my lots in smaller decimal than this...so 80 is close enough to 75 :)
him: i c!
me: no particular science to it...just notice that the TP is always matching or slightly more than the Target the row before
me: Target is how much i need to make to recover my loss, and +50
him: pls correct if i am wrong: what u r saying is that the latest TP must be such that it gives you = total previous loss + 50pips
me: so the next rows lots and TP is jsut a balance of trying to keep the lot number low, which makes the TP higher, and making sure the TP is slowly increased, but still reasonably achievable
me: yes.
me: that's correct.
him: i c!!!!
him: great idea
me: :)
me: sorry if it seems confusing
me: i should save this chat so if someone asks again, i know how to explain :)
him: what would happen if u fix ur TP at 50 pips for all ur tries?
me: then your lots would go up very fast
me dangerous
me: unless you've got huge account
him: but doing this also present another ptoblem:
him: ur TP gets higher and higher
him: less and less achievable, especially if the market is ranging....
me: if a person can have a big enough account, by all means can leave it at 50
me: it's not that unachievable really
me: even on a normal day the cable will break out over 100 pips
me: or easily 80 pips
him: mmm.... then, shouldn't we set our original TP higher at, let's say 60, but maintain SL at 25? then reward:risk ratio is better....
me: the more it ranges in the channel, the stronger the channel is, the further the breakout will go
me: thats for anyone to adjust
me hopefully someone could come up with a ideal set of numbers for this table
him: or am i getting greedy? :)
me: it's hard the tell what's optimum...
me: i dont think anyone would be able to know
me: just control your finances and you'll be fine
him: how abt SL, do u find 25 too tight for GU?
me: sometimes
me: u can put 30, then you have to adjust a lot of other numbers too
me: depends, if a person is willing to risk more
me: they can
him: true, it all boils down to Reward:Risk that a person is willing to accept
him: btw, do u avoid trading on days when u know there would be major announcement at 4.30pm that would have great impact on GBP?
me: thats why i open after 4.35 :)
him: i c :)
him: ur method is highly appealing in its simplicity
him: great!!!
me: :) coz i can't comprehend the complicated indicators!
